ELITE TENNIS & EDUCATION

WHAT IS NJTL?

As an NJTL Chapter for the USTA Foundation, we are proud to support all of our players on and off the court. SBTA does this through our Elite Tennis and Education(ETE) program. All players have additional resources that they can use to support them academically. From academic tutoring, speakers and free access to Winward Academy (online SAT/ACT prep) we are an additional resource for success off the court as well.

In 1969, the National Junior Tennis League was created by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell, & Sheridan Snyder with the goal of teaching children the importance of character, getting an education, and becoming productive citizens through tennis. With this program they believed that they could reach those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn, instill the values of leadership and academic excellence, and give kids the opportunity to fully develop their skills creating a lifetime of enjoyment for the sport of tennis.

Today, the now-named National Junior Tennis and Learning, the network features over 275 nonprofit youth development organizations that offer tennis and education programming to over 130,000 youth each year.

NJTL is supported by the USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The work done by its member chapters includes after-school programs that focuses on academic enrichment, a life-skills curriculum and, of course, tennis.

Your success is our success.

EDUCATION

Sports build more than athletic ability. On the court, young people learn to work as a team, overcome setbacks, and stay focused on long-term goals. These experiences strengthen confidence, empathy, and relationship skills, which are essential capacities that prepare them to succeed both in sports and in life.
